Babblr: Seriously, though. Priority: Rannoch was stupid.
Quarians:
- Find out that the machines you built to operate your military and infrastructure may be gaining self-awareness.
- Attempt to deactivate them.
Geth:
- Fight the Quarians off of all of their colonized worlds, even ones with no tactical or military value.
- Murder 99% of the…

This issue among fanbase is pretty much evenly split. And not by half since there’s a 3rd group that says “they were both wrong”.
As for the writers? No. They went out of the way to make them both look good and bad. Reason why you think they cater to geth is because, Legion.
Legion is just brilliant character and for a lot of people adorable. And since geth story is told from Legion, you kinda get that impression it’s catered.
…
Also you forgot that quarians didn’t even attempted diplomacy with the geth, not even once.
You forgot that their first solution of them to deal with geth sentience, is to kill them. They didn’t even consider to attempt diplomacy when they still weren’t a threat.
Also you forgot they went in martial law just to deal with geth problem which means oppression on quairans as well.
Also after that, quarians attacked the geth once they got a weapon to take them down, even though there was a proof they can make diplomacy with geth. You know? Legion? Geth that you can send to Migrant Fleet and outright say to Admiral Koris they would want peace?
Oh and throwing civilians to the frontlines of the war and making liveships freaking dreadnought while not even putting any extra armor on it.
…
How did you forget that?
Yeah, didn’t you follow what you learned from the Geth database in Mass Effect 3?
The Quarians more or less are to blame for what happened, the Geth didn’t want to pick up arms against their own creators but had no other choice then to do just that.
And also, the Geth in ME 1 were controlled by Saren and Sovereign, the real Geth were still back on Rannoch.
oh my fucking god bless the two posts above i
jesus christ OP did you not even listen during the game? both sides are at fault but it’s still the quarian who are to blame in the first place
The Geth database that left out the info about their genocide of the Quarians. It was far from even-handed. Also, the Geth themselves never tried to seek diplomacy. Almost all of what anyone in Citadel space knows about the Geth came from Shepard’s conversations with Legion, and he actually tells you that they never tried to stop the Heretics during the Eden Prime war, and they never sought any sort of outside diplomacy.
By the time the 3rd game rolls around, every terrible thing they’ve ever done is glossed over. Completely. They couldn’t even be even-handed about it like Priority: Tuchanka. With them it’s like “The Krogan were a threat, but perhaps genocide was a bit too much.” With the Quarians it’s all “HAHAHA YOU SO HAD THAT COMING.” Not only were they put in worse shape than the Krogan, but their aggressors kept on being aggressors for the next 3 centuries.
